Coche is a very relaxed place so you don’t need any fancy clothes to go out in as the main town is an authentic fishing village with family owned restaurants serving some of the freshest fish you will ever eat.

If you want to experience the nightlife in Porlamar in Margarita then shoes, and not sandals must be worn and guys have to wear trousers.

There are no cash machines on Coche so you should bring cash and travellers cheques (preferably in US dollars).

Money can be exchanged on Margarita and most credit cards are accepted although you should inform your credit card company you are travelling in Venezuela.
Bring Cash and Travellers cheques is the best option as the exchange rate is Much Higher than using your credit card.
US Dollars & Euro are widely excepted in most of the shops, bars and restaurants in El Yaque but in Porlamar (the capital) it is easier to use Bolivars which is the local currency.
There is a cash machine at the airport, and several in Porlamar (switch is not excepted).
In Coche there are No cash machines.

If you are a windsurfer then both islands offer an amazing range of the latest kit from all the top brands for you to hire.
For the kiters it is better to bring you’re own kit but if you wish to hire, Coche Kite Sports however offers a large range of kit from 7.0m to 17.0m latest Cabrina kites along with boards from 158cm Vari – 130cm Icon twin tip.
We offer storage and rescue / boat trips.
Day trips are also available to the secret spot of Cuba Aqua which is something not to be missed!!
Storage, Hire and Rescue:
We have secure kite storage facilities on the beach to save you carrying your kite equipment around.
If you want to hire equipment we offer a large range of kites from 7 to 17 metres along with Boards from 158cm Vari to 130 cm Icon twin tip.
The rescue boat will, for a small fee, ensure you are picked up in the event of you not being able to kite back to the beach.
Wind Direction and Statistics:
The kiter’s beach on Coche has offshore/cross winds in the morning and offshore winds for the rest of the day. January to August the wind blows on average 28 days! The morning starts around force 3-4, by lunchtime it is getting up to a good 4-5, then late afternoon 5-6, occasionally force 7. September to December the 20 or so days of cruising winds are a gentler 2-3, by lunchtime and staying for the afternoon around force 4.
